Architectural Design II

Emphasis is placed on the process by which design decisions are made and the methods of analysis in context to the existing environment. Topics include, structure, form and function, building in context, light and construction
Form & Function
 

This project examines the relationship of form and function in architectural design.  It encourages the awareness of truth, and promotes the arbitrary aesthetic of “functional” beauty.

Contextual Fit
 

An addition to an existing order. I designed an addition to a house designed in 1965 by Richard Meyer.  I respected the integrity of the original design, yet the new addition have its own presence.

Light
 

I designed a non-denominational chapel located on the campus of SUNY Farmingdale. This is a profoundly spiritual place that people of all faiths can worship and reflect on life’s events. I archived this by the creative use of light.
